Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein Arrested At Protest

It was a tumultuous weekend with the arrest of a presidential candidate, just not the one Democrats hoped for. The Green Party’s Dr. Jill Stein was taken into custody along with dozens of other anti-Israel protesters on Saturday at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

The 73-year-old candidate reportedly physically engaged with law enforcement officers attempting to control the extremist gathering.

Stein was part of the wave of left-wing demonstrations demanding that universities and colleges sever all ties with Israel, an important U.S. ally. She and two members of her campaign staff apparently crossed the line with authorities.

Campaign manager Jason Call told Fox News Digital, “The demand from the encampment was specifically for the university to divest in Boeing, which manufactures munitions used in the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza at their nearby St. Charles facility.”

Stein was also part of the ongoing demonstrations at Columbia University on Friday. Critics charge the school administration with only a tepid response to threats of violence against the school’s Jewish student body.

Many were forced to flee the volatile campus.

As for Stein, she claimed to have possibly suffered a rib fracture in her Saturday tussle with police officers.

In a Sunday interview on “NewsNation Prime,” Stein discussed her pain. “Today I have really sore ribs, I’m going to the emergency room to see whether I have a rib fracture because they were using their bikes as a weapon.”

She said officers pushed their bicycles into protesters “trying to flip us over.”

Stein was held in custody for six hours and faces charges of attacking a police officer. She was one of over 100 people that included 23 students and four college staffers who were arrested.

It is noteworthy that the vast majority of demonstrators have no obvious link to the school.

Besides divesting from Boeing, the leftist agitators demanded that Washington University end any relationships with Israeli educational institutions. Stein criticized law enforcement after her arrest for “militarization” and being trained along with Israeli forces.

The Jewish candidate urged President Joe Biden to “end the genocide in Gaza and the occupation.” She demanded that the Democrat “assert the authority of his office” and stop Tel Aviv’s retaliation against Hamas terrorists.
