Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was recently seen dancing the famed “La Macarena” dance in Spain with the group responsible for the song upon meeting with the country’s foreign minister.
After reportedly meeting with Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Jose Manuel Albares in Madrid, Spain, Clinton began dancing “La Macarena.”
On Jan. 20, 2024, the former U.S. Secretary of State attended an event at the Palacio de las Dueñas, hosted by the 12th Duchess of Montoro Eugenia Martinez de Irujo and her husband, Narcis Rebollo.
While at the event, Clinton met with iconic singers Antonio Romero Monge and Rafael Ruiz Perdigones, known as Los del Rio. She began dancing “La Macarena” with the singers but appeared confused with the choreography’s steps. The former U.S. secretary of state was filmed smiling and shaking her hands as the two musicians correctly danced.

On social media, Albares pointed out that he spoke with Clinton about “the global situation and how to construct a more just and equal world.”
The Spain-based news outlet, The Olive Press, reacted to Clinton’s dance, saying that the former U.S. secretary of state “brought the cringe” with her on her trip to Spain.
The Olive Press mocked Clinton’s attempts to dance “La Macarena” since the song was played frequently in campaign events to elect her husband for president in 1996.
“She took the imposition with good grace and tried gamely, despite looking a little alarmed. But it soon became clear that she had no clue about the dance routine,” the outlet wrote.
“Which is perhaps puzzling, since it was played constantly at Democratic Party events during the campaign to re-elect her husband, Bill.”
The recent events in Spain mark the second time Clinton attempted to dance “La Macarena.” In 1996, during the Democratic National Convention, attendees carried out the iconic choreography as Clinton clapped.
The viral video of Clinton dancing to the iconic ‘90s song comes as the former Secretary of State’s husband, Bill Clinton, was revealed in documents concerning infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein, where he was accused of “liking them young.”
