Joe Biden was denounced by Democrats for using the term “illegal” during his State of the Union address on Thursday, according to the Daily Wire.
The incident occurred when Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R – GA) goaded Biden into saying the name of 22-year-old Laken Riley, the nursing student allegedly beaten to death in Georgia by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
Biden, rising to Greene’s challenge, bumbled the murdered woman’s name by calling her “Lincoln Riley.”
“Lincoln Riley!” Biden said. “An innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That’s right. But how many of the thousands of people being killed by illegals?”
It’s a good question. In 2023, Border Patrol agents dealt with thousands of illegal immigrants who had previous criminal convictions, including assault, rape, and murder.
Since Biden’s term began, there have been over 1.5 million “gotaways,” illegal immigrants who are unaccounted for, so the true extent of crimes committed by Biden’s “illegals” is unknown.
During the speech, Biden said he needed Republicans to pass a Democrat-backed bill for him to secure the border. A fair number of Democrat lawmakers — despite Biden’s backing of progressive policies — were not happy with his reference to “illegals.”

Progressive radical Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) let her sentiments be known in a post on X: “Let me be clear: No human being is illegal,” posted on X after the speech.

Another leftist radical, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told the Associated Press, “I wish he hadn’t engaged with Marjorie Taylor Greene and used the word illegal,” she said.
“Just like we should not be implementing Republican policy, we should not be repeating Republican rhetoric,” progressive Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) grumbled, reported the Wire.
Biden was clearly off script when he said the word that shall not be said when referring to illegal immigrants: “illegals.”
The Biden administration generally calls the tsunami of illegal immigrants who have crossed into the United States during Biden’s reign as “newcomers” or “undocumented.” The left will not forgive him for calling something what it is.
