NYC Mayor To Illegal Immigrants: ‘We’re Out Of Room’

As more illegal immigrants are transported to New York City, Democratic Mayor Eric Adams stated that there is simply no more room for them.

To discuss the Big Apple’s illegal immigrant crisis, the mayor appeared on Fox Nation’s “Sanctuary Trap” with Rosanna Scotto to say that the city could not take in any more illegals.

“Our hearts are endless, but our resources are not,” Adams said. “It’s not like New York is not saying we are not a city of immigrants. We are. We have a rich history of immigrants, but we can’t take the global problem and it become our problem. That is unfair to New Yorkers, and is unfair to migrants.”

“We’re not just saying we’re out of room as a soundbite,” he emphasized. “We’re out of room, literally. People are going to be eventually sleeping on the streets.”

When asked by Scotto about closing the city off, Adams stated that he does not have the authority to do so. He also is not allowed to turn illegal immigrants who commit repeated crimes over to ICE. Due to a 1980s “right to shelter” rule, the mayor has a legal obligation to house everyone.

“I cannot break the law and enforce the law,” said Adams. “I can’t deport. I can’t stop people from coming in, repeated criminal behavior. I can’t report to ICE for deportation.”
As the amount of illegal immigrants committing crimes in the city increases, the mayor is also faced with keeping the city’s residents safe.

Last September during a town meeting, Adams stated that the overwhelming amount of illegal immigrants coming in would “destroy New York City.” He was not wrong.

With the influx of illegal immigrants entering the city, it has made resources scarce, including for New York residents. Several hotels have become shelters for illegal immigrants at the expense of taxpayers.

The illegal immigrant crisis has also started to impact the educational process for young New Yorkers. A few months ago, high school students were forced to conduct remote learning because the school was being used to house illegal immigrants during a storm.

On Tuesday, Adams announced a plan to create new tent shelters to house illegal immigrants to reduce the likelihood of them having to sleep on the streets.
