Univision, Telemundo Report On Tren De Aragua Gang Crime As Mainstream Media Remains Silent

Mainstream media outlets such as ABC, CBS and NBC have remained silent on the growing threat of Tren de Aragua (TdA), a violent Venezuelan gang that has been linked to crimes across the United States. In stark contrast, Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo have taken the lead in covering the gang’s expansion, bringing attention to its involvement in human trafficking, violence and organized crime.

Univision correspondent Fabiola Galindo recently interviewed NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, who discussed the difficulty in tracking down TdA members in New York City. Kenny explained that sanctuary city laws prevent law enforcement from asking about immigration status, complicating efforts to combat the gang. He also noted that TdA members have been involved in violent acts, including a shooting by a 15-year-old migrant in Times Square.

Telemundo’s coverage included commentary from former FBI agent Daniel Brunner, who warned that Tren de Aragua is a more serious threat than MS-13. The network also highlighted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to designate TdA as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, a move that has gone largely unreported by mainstream news outlets.

Critics of the “Regime Media” argue that the silence surrounding TdA’s rise is politically motivated, with mainstream outlets avoiding stories that could reflect negatively on the Biden-Harris regime’s handling of immigration. Reports of criminal migrant gangs infiltrating U.S. cities would contradict the administration’s narrative and are thus suppressed.

Univision and Telemundo, despite their own advocacy for immigrant communities, have not shied away from reporting on the dangers posed by TdA. Their willingness to cover the story sets them apart from other networks, leaving many to wonder why the mainstream media continues to ignore such a pressing issue.
