Twitter users had a field day criticizing the Biden administration’s executive director of the Department of Homeland Security’s new Disinformation Governance Board after videos surfaced of her singing about “information laundering.”
Nina Jankowicz, who has been named to lead what many have described as the Biden admin’s “Ministry of Truth” straight out of the novel “1984,” was apparently unashamed of the “cringe” videos, as she posted them herself.
Jankowicz was immediately thrust into the spotlight after being named as the head of the newly created board that will reportedly “coordinate countering misinformation related to homeland security, focused specifically on irregular migration and Russia.”
Critics quickly began to point out that the Disinformation Governance Board czar herself has previously been the purveyor of disinformation, and has often discounted true information that went against the left-wing narrative. One major example that commenters cited was her dismissal of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop — which has been authenticated by numerous media outlets — as a “Trump campaign product.”
Alongside criticizing her views and past political actions, a resurfaced TikTok video of Jankowicz broadcast on Thursday’s episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” made its way into the conversation as people began to bring up concerns about her appointment.
The video features Jankowicz singing about “information laundering,” and is set to a musical parody of the “Mary Poppins” song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
According to Mediaite, Jankowicz sings the lyrics:
“Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious.
By saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious.
It’s how you hide a little, hide a little, little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little, little lie.
When Rudy Giuliani shared bad intel from Ukraine. Or when TikTok influencers say COVID can’t cause pain.
They’re laundering disinfo and we really should take note. And not support their lies with our wallet, voice or vote – oh!”
In February 2021, Jankowicz shared her singing performance on Twitter with the caption: “You can just call me the Mary Poppins of disinformation.”
Twitter reactions to the song from the new executive director of the Disinformation Governance Board included shock and cringe.
“This is who the government is trying to put in charge of regulating YOUR speech,” replied Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
“She’s perfect! She is the incarnate Spirit of the Age who also embodies the affluent woke white women that are the Democrats’ main base now,” wrote BlazeTV’s Steve Deace, host of “The Steve Deace Show.”
“This can’t be real. But it is,” said columnist Joe Concha.
“This is the new Biden administration head of Ministry of Truth, Nina Jankowicz. She is in charge of what’s truth and fiction in America. Every time you think the Biden administration can’t get more ridiculous, they do,” tweeted Outkick founder Clay Travis.
“Why is the director of the Biden Ministry of Truth using a Chinese spy app?” asked conservative commentator Katie Pavlich.
“I mean, she wrote a whole book based on the premise that you can be a CIA agent and also ~marginalized~ at the same time so she’s the perfect censor kween for the Biden regime,” replied Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw.
“So this is the truth czar? I thought this was a joke at first–Imo, the poor judgment, smugness, & overconfidence it takes to make a video like this is no joke. And I think it’s even more egregious due to her documented history of spreading lies. How did we get here?” asked author Steven Phillips, MD.
“Rich, white, liberal women are indeed the worst and catering to them is destroying our country,” tweeted editor Curtis Houck.
“Honestly this is enough of a reason to ban TikTok,” wrote author Matt Stoller.
“A spoonful of sugar cannot make THIS medicine go down,” quipped former Arizona Senator Kelli Ward, referencing a well-known line from “Mary Poppins.”
“They had Baghdad Bob, we have Nanny State Nina. The Ministry of Truth is unconstitutional, period. Every entity has a Press Secretary or PIO to relay their point of view, this is an abuse of a Law Enforcement Agency,” tweeted former NYPD detective Rob O’Donnell.
“Who would have thought the collapse of the world’s greatest empire would be so funny,” wrote author Ajit Datta.
Apparently, this is not Jankowicz’s first attempt at making music.
According to a “Harry Potter” fan website, in 2005, the new disinformation czar and another young woman created a “wizard rock band” named “The Moaning Myrtles” based on the “Harry Potter” books, releasing two albums by 2008.
“The band’s name is a take-off of Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who was killed by Salazar Slytherin’s Basilisk and now haunts the first-floor girls’ lavatory,” according to the Harry Potter Wiki site.
