Sen. Tim Scott Blasts DOJ For Silence On SCOTUS Protests

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) had harsh words for President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice because of their lack of interest in protecting Supreme Court Justices after threats of violence and protests at their homes, putting the safety of the justices at risk.

Scott told The Daily Wire, “It is disgusting, despicable and undeniable that the Department of Justice needs to stand up and take care…”

The Department of Homeland Security is anticipating violence leading up to the SCOTUS ruling on abortion and in a memo, it’s clear that an uptick in security measures is necessary.

The May 13 memo says that protests “are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling.”

Oddly, the memo also says, “Some racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists’ embrace of pro-life narratives may be linked to the perception of wanting to ‘save white children’ and ‘fight white genocide,’” but pro-life movements are far less concerned with the color of someones skin and more concerned about killing innocent children.

There’s also a problem with protesters intimidating Supreme Court Justice’s to sway the ruling. Federal Code 1507 says that protests “with the intent of interfering with, obstructing or impeding the administration of justice or with the intent of influencing any judge, in the discharge of his duty” are illegal, but the Department of Justice hasn’t done anything to stop the protests. In fact, they’ve encouraged peaceful protests.

Scott also said, “I would hope that all Americans would come together to defend the right embedded in our Constitution to free speech. I would hope that we would send a clear message to folks who want to intimidate our justices: Not here, not now, not ever.”

The call to end protests isn’t about the leaked SCOTUS opinion, but about the crimes that are being committed. Conservatives encourage peaceful, legal protests. But these aren’t legal protests.

The left is setting a precedent that began during the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots in 2020 that led to death, property damage and injury across the nation. Conservatives would be wise to push back as hard as possible to force these protests to stop.
