Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former independent presidential candidate now supporting President Donald Trump, made a bold statement claiming that a vote for Kamala Harris is “a vote for nuclear war.” He cited her inexperience and aggressive foreign policy stance as key factors in his warning, suggesting that her presidency could lead to catastrophic consequences.
Kennedy posted a video on X where he referenced his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, who believed in direct diplomacy. RFK Jr. criticized Harris’ speech at the Democratic Convention, calling her remarks about Russia “belligerent and hostile.” He argued that her approach would make her a puppet for “the military intelligence faction” that seeks conflict, not peace.
Contrasting Harris with Trump, Kennedy emphasized Trump’s willingness to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, especially concerning the ongoing Ukraine war. Kennedy stated that if his uncle, JFK, were alive today, he would stand alongside Trump, valuing dialogue over escalation. He highlighted JFK’s efforts to maintain direct communication with adversaries, such as installing a hotline for talks with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
In a controversial comparison, Kennedy likened Harris to former Vice President Dick Cheney, accusing her of following in his footsteps by advocating for unnecessary military action. He cited the Iraq war as an example of the dangers posed by such leadership, saying Cheney “faked the evidence” to start a war that killed over a million people.
Kennedy underscored the potential for nuclear devastation, referencing a study that estimated a World War III scenario could last only 73 minutes but result in 5.8 billion deaths. He repeated JFK’s warning that survivors of a nuclear war would “envy the dead.”
Encouraging Americans to vote for Trump, Kennedy framed the decision as a choice between peace and catastrophic war. “If you want to avoid nuclear war, I strongly urge you to vote for Donald Trump,” he concluded.
