Rep. Moskowitz Blasts ICC Over Israeli Arrest Warrants, Calls Court ‘Irrelevant’ As ‘Harry Potter Ministry Of Magic’

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) slammed the International Criminal Court (ICC) during a Sunday interview on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream, calling the court “irrelevant” and comparing it to the “Harry Potter Ministry of Magic.”

Moskowitz’s criticism comes in response to the ICC’s recent filing of arrest warrant applications for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes in Israel’s conflict with the Hamas terrorist organization.

“The ICC is irrelevant. They have no jurisdiction,” Moskowitz said. “We might as well call them the Harry Potter Ministry of Magic. They’re irrelevant because Israel is not a party to their treaty.”

The Florida Democrat pointed out the ICC’s apparent double standards, noting that the court did not pursue action against Syrian dictator Assad for killing 300,000 civilians with chemical weapons or investigate human rights violations in China because neither country is a party to the ICC.

Moskowitz emphasized that Israel, like Syria and China, is not a party to the ICC, yet the court is targeting them. “This is totally political,” he said.

The ICC will almost definitely remain a topic in American politics as Israel will likely be a central topic in the upcoming presidential elections where the conflict in the Gaza Strip has already impacted the Democratic primary race.
