Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has vowed to expedite President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet confirmations, stating his intent to push multiple nominations through his committee during Trump’s first week in office. Paul’s leadership of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs places him at the forefront of the confirmation process.
In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Paul expressed strong support for Trump’s nominees. “I couldn’t be happier with his nominees,” Paul said. “Some of them are exactly who I would’ve chosen.” He committed to using his position to ensure swift approvals.

Paul named several nominees he plans to prioritize, including Dr. Marty Makary for the FDA, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya for the NIH, and Kristi Noem for the Department of Homeland Security. Other appointees he praised included Russ Vought for the Office of Management and Budget and Pete Hegseth for another key role.

Paul also sparked discussion by proposing Elon Musk as a candidate for Speaker of the House. While he later admitted the idea was partly in jest, Paul emphasized that the Speaker does not need to be a member of Congress and praised Musk for highlighting wasteful government spending.
Paul’s commitment to fiscal conservatism was demonstrated in his opposition to a recent spending bill. He joined nine other Republican senators and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in voting against the measure.
