Assistant U.S. Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, the highest-ranking openly transgender official in any presidential administration, has frequently spoken out in support of far-left gender theories.
Most recently, Levine sat down for an interview with ABC News and used the forum to encourage parents to begin transitioning children before puberty.
“Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard,” Levine declared, claiming that some children experience the “wrong puberty” and should be given an opportunity to “explore” their feelings that they were born as the wrong gender.
“What if you inside feel that you are female but now you are going through a male puberty?” Levine asked, claiming that the “standard of care” for prepubescent children “allows them to explore that.”
Attempting to downplay the potentially life-long consequences of the so-called “gender-affirming care” being discussed, Levine said: “I want to make it clear that, for prepubertal children, there are no medical procedures done.”
The interview sparked widespread backlash among prominent conservatives on social media.

Insisting that it is impossible to “go through ‘the wrong puberty,’” 2024 GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis tweeted: “Woke bureaucrats are lying to our children and trying to destroy our country. We must fight back.”
Political commentator Matt Walsh attempted to highlight the perceived absurdity of Levine’s argument.
“Yes, what if you’re going through the wrong puberty?” he tweeted. “Also, what if you have the wrong liver or the wrong left kneecap? What if you have the wrong eye color? What if you have the wrong DNA? These and many other questions make sense if you’re a delusional schizophrenic.”
U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) chimed in with his conclusion that statements like those made by Levine are only contributing to the negative perception so many American parents have about the current administration.
“Why do parents not trust the Biden Administration?” he asked. “Because Richard Levine thinks your child can go through the ‘wrong puberty.’ This isn’t medicine, it’s child abuse.”
A number of other Twitter users shared their own childhood stories, expressing gratitude that they were not persuaded to undergo such procedures when they did not reflect gender norms at a young age.
“What if you transition all because of a ‘feeling’ and then that ‘feeling’ goes away and you’re stuck with a mutilated body and now face a life of regret?” one tweet asked.
