Mother And Child Fatally Shot In Their Car On Florida Highway

A four-year-old girl and her mother were tragically shot and killed while in their car on a Florida highway late Friday night. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident took place just before midnight near mile marker 49, close to Hollywood Boulevard.

Upon receiving an emergency call about the shooting, Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived to find the mother and daughter with severe gunshot wounds. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while her mother, Beatrice Saintvil, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. According to Local 10, police are actively searching for the suspect as of Saturday morning.

The Florida Turnpike was briefly closed early Saturday morning to allow investigators to collect evidence. The car, riddled with bullet holes on the front and back passenger sides, was towed away from the scene.

“Sadly, the girl was pronounced deceased on scene,” said FHP Lt. Indiana Miranda in a statement. “At the request of our department, Broward Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and are currently investigating this fatal shooting.”

Authorities are still determining whether the shooting was a targeted attack or a random act of violence. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Ryan Schnakenberg at (954) 321-4247 or send a tip via the SaferWatch app online.
