Michigan’s Jocelyn Benson Threatens Local Officials Over Election Certification

Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s leftist Secretary of State, has issued a warning to local election officials: certify the election results or face significant legal consequences. Benson’s message was delivered in a video produced in partnership with The Recount, a far-left media outlet, and has caused a stir in Michigan, an important swing state.

“If someone were to violate the law and not certify the election at the local level, we will come for you,” Benson stated, making it clear that she expects full compliance with state election laws. Her threats have raised concerns among local officials who fear potential legal action if they do not adhere to her demands.

Republican state Sen. Jim Runestad responded by explaining the legal process for dealing with uncertified election results in Michigan. Runestad emphasized that the state board of canvassers is responsible for reviewing the records and making necessary determinations, allowing local officials another chance to certify corrected results without facing immediate punitive measures.

Benson also spoke about “misinformation” related to elections, urging Michigan residents to report any such instances to a state-managed email address. Her use of the term “misinformation” has drawn criticism from those who see it as a way to suppress differing opinions and maintain control over the election narrative.

As Michigan remains a pivotal state in national elections, Benson’s aggressive approach to election certification could further intensify political tensions. Her demands and threats may lead to increased scrutiny of the state’s election process and raise questions about the balance of power between state and local officials.
