Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears Tears Into Democrat Party Over ‘Hatred’ Of Black Conservatives

Republican Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears told Cal Thomas in a New York Post interview published Friday that the reason Democrats hate Black conservatives like her is their lust for power.

Sears also became the first female ever elected as Virginia’s lieutenant governor last year when she ran on the winning ticket with GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin.

In a wide-ranging discussion of contemporary politics and Democrats’ historical relationship with Black voters, Sears observed that Democrats need 80 or 90% of the Black vote to win. She said that is reason enough for them to be “so full of hatred when conservatives like me, or libertarians, don’t think the way they do.”

“We don’t really care,” she added.

Sears said that American slaves “did not die in the fields to be beholden to the Democrat Party.” She said that slaves wanted freedom, to be reunited with their families, and to be able to give their children a good education.

She said that she sees Democrats as holding Blacks back from achieving and leading them to destructive behavior like aborting their babies. She noted that she has been called “a white supremacist for saying we want more black babies. Democrats have to make up their minds.”

Sears said that President Donald Trump saw his support among non-white voters go up between 2016 and 2020 because he produced jobs and economic results that they actually experienced in their lives.

She noted that Black entrepreneurship “increased to about 400 percent of where it had been” during the Trump administration. Sears also pointed to Trump’s strong support of historically Black colleges and universities, especially his decision to forgive $360 million in debt owed going back to the relief provided after Hurricane Katrina.

However, regarding any endorsements for the 2024 presidential election, Sears said, “I’m going to hold my fire. I want to see what he says, what he does and who else is out there.”

In another interview, this past weekend with Trey Goudy on Fox News’ “Sunday Night in America,” Sears said that Blacks’ parental control of their children’s education is going to be a major issue in the midterm elections coming up in November.

She said that giving parents a choice about how their children are educated is the “new Brown v. Board of Education.” She said that all these decades later, Black parents are still making the same request to be able to “choose the best school for their child.”

She declared that Democrats and teachers’ unions are “not going to keep using this as a wedge to drive us against each other.”
