A harrowing case near Del Rio, Texas, has exposed the dangers tied to the Biden administration’s border policies, as a five-year-old girl was caught in the middle of an illegal smuggling operation. Texas State Troopers apprehended an illegal immigrant attempting to traffic the child, who was forced into another smuggler’s vehicle to be taken to a nearby hotel.
Lt. Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety revealed that the girl’s mother, a North Carolina resident, had paid $8,000 to the smugglers, using an online service to coordinate the crime. Authorities discovered this alarming arrangement during a vehicle stop, leading to the arrest of the smuggler. This individual, who has a history of smuggling minors, had previously been caught in 2022 for similar activities.
Olivarez suggested charges against the mother for endangering her daughter, though it remains uncertain whether local prosecutors will pursue the case. This incident underscores growing concerns about the child trafficking crisis fueled by insufficient border security.
As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, his incoming border czar, Tom Homan, has vowed to crack down on illegal immigration. Homan’s strategy involves reallocating law enforcement resources to focus on deporting the numerous illegal immigrants who entered the country during the Biden administration.
Homan emphasized contracting out administrative tasks to free up law enforcement for field operations. “We’re going to contract as much work out as we can,” he stated, underscoring the urgency to maximize manpower for deportation efforts. His plan involves sending teams, not individuals, to locate and apprehend illegal immigrants across the country, particularly in sanctuary states that resist federal immigration enforcement.
This disturbing case highlights the human cost of open-border policies while offering a glimpse of the more aggressive stance expected under Trump’s leadership.
