Homan Requests Congressional Support For Trump’s Mass Deportation Plan

Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed border czar, has revealed a sweeping plan to carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history. Speaking on CNN, Homan called on Congress to provide funding and resources to facilitate the initiative, including 100,000 detention beds for migrants.

“We need Congress to give us some money to get this done,” Homan stated, emphasizing the scale of the operation. While he acknowledged not knowing the exact budget, Homan said the plan requires additional beds and transportation contracts to detain and deport undocumented migrants effectively.

Homan argued that Trump’s election signaled public approval for stricter immigration enforcement and urged Congress to pass funding through reconciliation. He stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers will begin conducting operations on Trump’s first day in office. “ICE offices across the country will be out on the streets,” he said.

The operation, which could cost at least $86 billion, involves using military aircraft to transport deportees. However, Homan clarified that the military would not assist in arrests. He described the effort as “expensive” but necessary to address the issue of illegal immigration.

Trump has pledged to hold foreign governments accountable for accepting deportees, threatening to cut economic ties with nations that refuse. Homan said that the more resources provided by Congress, the larger the operation could be, aligning with the administration’s promise to enforce immigration laws aggressively.

Homan has a long history of involvement in immigration policy, including testifying before Congress on enforcement strategies and criticizing lenient policies under the Biden administration.
