Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s political action committee, UPRIGHT, is making waves, with team owner Clark Hunt backing the effort. The PAC, which was launched during the Chiefs’ bye week, focuses on encouraging conservatives to vote in support of traditional Christian values.
Hunt praised Butker’s initiative, stating that he supports players using their platforms for causes they believe in. “We have players on both sides of the political spectrum,” Hunt said. He emphasized that the Chiefs organization respects the personal convictions of its players, even if they are politically active.
UPRIGHT PAC has already garnered attention for Butker’s endorsement of Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), who is facing a reelection challenge from Democrat Lucas Kunce. The PAC’s mission is to protect traditional values in the U.S. and mobilize Christian voters to counter cultural shifts that Butker believes threaten these values.
Earlier this year, Butker was criticized for remarks he made at Benedictine College, where he urged women to prioritize their roles as mothers. The comments sparked accusations of misogyny, and the NFL quickly distanced itself from his views, affirming its support for inclusion.
The Hunt family, known for its conservative leanings, has also voiced opposition to efforts aimed at overturning Missouri’s abortion ban. Butker has expressed frustration with President Donald Trump’s comments on reproductive rights, yet he recently endorsed Trump, calling him the “most pro-life president.”
