President Donald Trump is leading Kamala Harris in Georgia, according to a new CBS/YouGov poll, which gives Trump 51% of the vote compared to Harris’ 49%. This poll, which surveyed 1,441 registered voters, adds to a series of polls showing Trump with a consistent lead in the state.
A deeper look into the poll’s data shows Trump leading by 13 points among men, while Harris has a seven-point lead among women. This gender gap is particularly challenging for Harris, as her inability to connect with male voters has been a persistent issue throughout her campaign.
Economic concerns are a driving force behind Trump’s lead. Seventy-nine percent of voters report that their income has not kept pace with inflation, and 49% believe they would be better off financially with Trump in the White House. In contrast, only 35% believe Harris would improve their economic situation.
Social issues like abortion and gun control were also addressed in the poll. While 59% of voters support legal abortion in most cases, opinions are split on Georgia’s six-week abortion ban. Additionally, voters were divided on whether Harris or Trump would do more to reduce gun violence.
With Trump’s lead on economic issues and widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration, Harris faces a tough challenge in Georgia. The state, often a battleground, may prove to be a critical loss for the Democrats if these trends continue.
