Firefighter’s Widow Rejects Biden’s Call After Trump Rally Shooting

The widow of Corey Comperatore, the firefighter who tragically lost his life during the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, has declined a phone call from President Joe Biden, citing her late husband’s political beliefs.

Helen Comperatore shared with the New York Post on Monday that Biden reached out to her following the death of her husband at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “I didn’t talk to Biden,” she said. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican, and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

Despite rejecting the call, Helen emphasized that she does not hold any animosity towards President Biden. “I don’t have any ill will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics,” she remarked. “I support Trump. That’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden. He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”

Corey Comperatore was hailed as a hero after his daughter, Allyson Comperatore, revealed that he died while protecting his family at the rally. “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” Allyson wrote.

The incident unfolded when Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old gunman, opened fire at the rally. Crooks’ attack resulted in Corey’s death and left two others seriously injured. Trump was also injured but survived.

Helen’s decision to reject Biden’s call highlights the strong political convictions within her family. While she continues to support Trump, she remains focused on the personal loss her family has endured rather than attributing blame to political figures.

The assassination attempt on Trump has sparked discussions about the need for increased security measures at political events and the growing threats faced by public figures. The bravery and sacrifice of individuals like Corey Comperatore serve as a reminder of the human cost of political violence.

As the nation continues to deal with the repercussions of the attack, the Comperatore family’s story underscores the profound impact such acts of violence have on ordinary Americans and their families.
