The Disney+ streaming platform is featuring a documentary by Alex Holder called “Unprecedented” that features former President Donald Trump and never before seen footage of the January 6 Capitol Riot. In the documentary, Trump said that protesters were “smart” to be angry over the “rigged election.”
Trump has stayed relatively quiet about January 6, but the documentary shows interviews and video footage of Trump and other family members speaking candidly about the events that unfolded.
In a clip of the documentary, Trump said, “Well, it was a sad day, but it was a day where there was great anger in our country. People went to Washington primarily because they were angry with an election that they think was rigged.”
Trump still insists that the 2020 election was stolen and with many speculations of irregularities associated with the election, many view the election as fraudulent and believe it should be overturned. Millions of Americans share Trump’s sentiment. Still, suggesting that January 6 was an insurrection and Trump was trying to use protesters to overthrow the election is a stretch.
Trump also said, “A very small portion, as you know, went down to the Capitol, and then a very small portion of them went in. But I will tell you, they were angry from the standpoint of what happened in the election. And because they’re smart and they see and they saw what happened. And I believe that that was a big part of what happened on January 6th.”
Trump added, “I think I learned you have to be very untrusting. I thought it would be a straight-up election and it wasn’t.”
The mainstream answer to Trump’s claims is that he’s wrong. But, when looking at the totality of the election cycle and realizing that outside influence, such as Mark Zuckerberg, placed a large stake in the election, it’s not far-fetched to believe that there were shady practices taking place.
In an interview with Holder, Trump said, “It’s a shame what Twitter did, and what Facebook did. That’s what they do. These people are thugs. They allow other people to be on who are horrific people. I’m not a horrific person. I have a big voice. I have a voice that had hundreds of millions of people listening.”
Trump’s base is still very solid. He still holds rallies and pushes many GOP candidates that are prepping for the November 2022 mid-term election.
The documentary also features Eric Trump making a phone call where he said, “For the sake of this country, we’re going to get these guys.” The clip shows no context or further information about the phone call.
