Border Patrol Apprehends Multiple Terrorists Crossing Southern Border

Amid record-high border crossings as a result of President Joe Biden’s open border policies and the ending of Title 42, at least five illegal aliens have been arrested and found to be on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database watchlist.

These five terrorists were all apprehended by Border Patrol agents in one single border sector in Tucson, Arizona on Friday. A source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), who was not authorized to speak with the media, confirmed that the illegal alien terrorists were referred to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force for further investigation and confirmation of their identities.

Each of the arrests occurred in separate incidents throughout the day and into the evening on Friday. Authorities have not provided any further details about the demographics or nationalities of the terrorists.

A previous report from CBP states that a total of 80 illegal aliens listed on the Terrorist Screening Database have been arrested after entering the U.S. through the southwest border between ports of entry just in this fiscal year, while two additional individuals were arrested after crossing the Canadian border into the U.S. The fiscal year includes October 2022 to March 2023.

The Terrorist Screening Database contains information about specific individuals who are reasonably suspected to be involved in terrorism, or terrorism-related activities, according to the FBI.

According to Breitbart News, “A person’s name being listed in the TSDB triggers a reporting process that alerts the FBI to an encounter by the Border Patrol. The source says the additional scrutiny triggered by the encounter includes verification that the migrant whose name matches a name on the list is in fact the same person.”

Sources that spoke with Fox News reporter Bill Melugin have confirmed that one of the terrorists arrested at the southern border was from Afghanistan.

“Per multiple CBP sources, Border Patrol agents in San Diego sector arrested an Afghan national on the FBI’s terror watchlist after he crossed illegally w/ group of migrants near Otay Mesa, CA on Wednesday. I’m told FBI confirmed the match, & is leading investigation,” Melugin wrote in a tweet.

“I have reached out to CBP for comment, they tell me they will get back to me. CA Congressman @DarrellIssa represents the area, and tells me his office has confirmed the arrest with their CBP contact. He released the following statement in response,” Melugin added in a follow-up tweet, sharing a statement from Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

Issa blasted Biden in his statement, calling him out for his open border policies.

“Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history. Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done,” the statement read.

Stephen Miller, who served as an advisor to former President Donald Trump, has warned that there are likely more of these terrorists that were able to get through the “unguarded” areas of the southern border undetected.

“And remember: got aways have never been higher. Vast stretches of border totally unguarded and unpatrolled as agents forced to process and release record influx,” Miller said.
