Biden Invites DeSantis To Delaware And Gets Classic Response

In the wake of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ sending flights of illegal Venezuelan migrants to Martha’s Vineyard on Sept. 14, more migrants are headed north and possibly even to Delaware.

When asked about DeSantis sending migrants to his home state, President Joe Biden deflected by simply responding that “He should come visit. We have a beautiful shoreline.”

Of course, this invitation was sent to the governor of Florida, who is no stranger to beautiful shorelines.

DeSantis, in a simple but powerful response, tweeted back an image of the white sands of a Sunshine State beach and the words, “We’re good, thanks…”

Officials in Delaware have reportedly been bracing for the possibility that DeSantis would send migrants their way as well, though thus far that has not happened. The White House said it is coordinating with state officials in the event that a bus or plane with migrants shows up.

DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have drawn national headlines by flying and bussing illegal migrants to Democratic-run cities that claim to be “sanctuaries.”

The larger picture is that the number of migrant encounters by Customs and Border Patrol officials hit a record 2.15 million last month for the current fiscal year. That blew past the previous record total with still a month to go on the fiscal calendar.

President Biden continues to defend his administration’s policies and performance concerning the southern border with Mexico.

On Tuesday, he noted that there are fewer migrants coming from Central America and Mexico and credits his policies with the change.

They are being replaced, he said, by new migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. These failed communist regimes have seen an exodus of several million citizens as economic ruin follows the governments’ disastrous social policies.

Biden’s invitation to DeSantis was interesting, and the Florida governor’s response was priceless. Still, it cannot overshadow the very serious nature of the southern border being overrun by millions of illegal migrants. It’s the president’s job to fix this, not send invitations out to visit his home state.
