Earlier this month, Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke announced his candidacy to become the next governor of the Lone Star State. Despite talk about Texas turning purple over the past several years, O’Rourke’s chances of getting into the governor’s mansion are pretty much slim to none.
For starters, the Texas Democrat has a proven track record of losing elections. He lost the race in 2018 to become a Texas senator. Then, two years later, he lost the 2020 primary election and failed to get the nomination of the Democrat Party.
However, if you put O’Rourke’s track record as a loser to the side, his policies are a mess. The Texas Democrat is sticking by his support for gun-grabbing, compulsory buyback programs. Therefore, he’s alienating the countless Texans who support the Second Amendment.
However, American Thinker has shined a new light on O’Rourke’s latest strategy to become the governor of Texas.
During an interview with MSN News days ago, O’Rourke made some fascinating remarks. The failed senatorial and failed presidential candidate professed the 2022 Texas race wouldn’t be about Joe Biden.
Instead, O’Rourke declared next year’s Texas gubernatorial election would focus on residents of the Lone Star State and their interests. When the Texas Democrat was questioned on whether or not he would want Biden to campaign for him, O’Rourke professed his focus on his “fellow Texans.”
Now, just about anyone can read between the lines here. It was O’Rourke’s politically correct way of stating he doesn’t want Biden to bring his low approval numbers to the state of Texas and potentially mess things up.
It parallels Biden campaigning for Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial election, only for McAuliffe to lose. O’Rourke believes by distancing himself from Biden. He’ll have a fighting chance to oust Greg Abbott, the current Republican governor of Texas.
The truth is that bringing Biden to Texas during the 2022 gubernatorial election likely wouldn’t do O’Rourke any favors. However, this doesn’t mean that the Texas Democrat will win because he steers clear of Biden.
Here’s the reality: Democrats have been coming after Texas for quite some time. Yet, they continue to miss the mark. During the 2020 election season, Democrats worked mightily to morph Texas into a blue state, yet they failed.
Texans are going to see through O’Rourke’s act. O’Rourke may not want Biden by his side during election season. However, if this Texas Democrat were to worm his way into the governor’s mansion, he would be a rubber stamp acolyte for the communist Biden agenda.
It remains profoundly imperative for Texans to vote against this and keep O’Rourke from getting anywhere near the Lone Star State’s governor’s mansion.
