Anti-Trump Koch-Aligned Super PAC Announces Haley Endorsement

While former President Donald Trump remains the clear favorite among 2024 GOP presidential primary contenders, the anti-Trump wing of the party continues to look for the most viable alternative in a long-shot bid to see someone else secure the nomination.

That includes influential political donor Charles Koch, whose Americans for Prosperity Action
organization recently announced its endorsement of former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

She has been in a tightening race with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in recent weeks to carve out a second-place position behind Trump, and Koch seems to be among the GOP operatives casting their lot in with the ex-governor of South Carolina.

“AFP Action is proud to throw our full support behind Nikki Haley, who offers America the
opportunity to turn the page on the current political era, to win the Republican primary and
defeat Joe Biden next November,” claimed Emily Seidel, a senior adviser at the political group.

She noted that Haley “will have the full weight and scope of AFP Action’s unmatched grassroots army and resources to help her earn the support of Americans to become the next president of the United States.”

Although Haley has seen her poll numbers increase in response to debate performances that were largely well-received among anti-Trump Republican voters, she has shown no real signs of being able to eat away at the front-runner’s prohibitive lead.

A recent Marquette Law School poll found that Trump received support from 54% of GOP voters — a staggering 42-point advantage over Haley, his closest rival in the survey.

It remains to be seen whether the support of AFP Action will help Haley gain any more
momentum, but the super PAC has a substantial war chest. During the 2022 election cycle,
records show it contributed a total of more than $69 million.

As for how much its leadership is prepared to spend backing Haley’s campaign, a memo
announcing the endorsement was short on details.

“AFP Action’s endorsement will put thousands of AFP Action activists and grassroots leaders
into the field — with a focus on the early primary states — knocking on doors and urging voters to support Nikki Haley,” the group stated. “Additionally, in the coming days, we’ll launch extensive mail, digital, and connected television campaigns to supplement those on-the-ground efforts.”
