Another Kamala Harris Aide Quits, Reports Indicate She Runs a ‘Soul-Destroying’ Office

As rumors continue to swirl that working for Vice President Kamala Harris is “soul-destroying,” the VP’s office has lost yet another staffer — one of many who have chosen to leave her employment over the years.

The exodus of Harris’ staffers continues, with the latest resignation coming from Herbie Ziskend, a senior communications adviser.

Ziskend announced his intention to leave the vice president’s office in favor of a position as the new White House deputy communications director. Kate Berner, who currently serves in Ziskend’s new role, is being promoted to principal deputy communications director.

The communications adviser is just the latest staffer to exit Harris’ office amid claims of turmoil and dysfunction, a pattern that has existed since she was a California senator, long before she was picked to be vice president.

Ziskend, who joined Harris’ team at the start of President Joe Biden’s term, is one of the few staffers who actually lasted this long before finding a new role.

Just a few months ago, when yet another Harris staffer had left her office, then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the concerning pattern of what seemed like a staffer quitting every week.

Psaki responded by claiming that the exodus was a “natural” and “very positive thing” to happen.

“Working in the first year of a White House is exciting and rewarding but it’s also grueling and exhausting,” she said at the time.

Meanwhile, despite what Psaki claimed, several reports have come out citing a tense atmosphere within the vice president’s office, with some calling Harris a “bully.”

One report referred to Harris as the “common denominator” in all of the resignations, asserting that her method of leadership within the office was “soul-destroying.”

A former staffer even alleged that Harris often fails to read briefing materials provided to her by her staff — then lashes out at her staffers when she is obviously not prepared. Many have cited the staffer’s comments about Harris’ lack of preparation as evidence to explain why she often appears to make no sense when she is forced to speak in public.

“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work… with Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully, and it’s not really clear why,” the staffer claimed.
