President Donald Trump’s campaign is seeing growing support from Amish voters in Pennsylvania, a state where even small voter shifts can impact the outcome. A traditionally private community, many Amish voters are now motivated to participate by concerns over government overreach, with Vice President Kamala Harris’ policies viewed as threats to their way of life.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) discussed the shift in Amish political involvement, explaining that values such as religious liberty, family independence, and opposition to big government align with Trump’s policies. “The Amish love President Trump…they want to be left alone,” said Smucker, who represents Lancaster County, home to one of the largest Amish populations.

The Amish and Mennonite communities number around 90,000 in Pennsylvania, and their vote could make a difference in a state decided by 80,000 votes in the last election. In Smucker’s district alone, Amish voter registration has surged, with 1,500-2,000 new registrants added during the previous election cycle and more expected this year.
Government actions, such as a federal raid on Amish farmer Amos Miller over raw milk sales, have amplified these communities’ concerns about overreach. Smucker pointed out that this incident is one of many where Amish individuals feel threatened by increasing government control over their traditional practices.

Scott Presler, an activist focused on voter outreach, has also highlighted the impact of registering Amish voters. Presler’s outreach efforts in Pennsylvania have stirred some backlash from Democrats, who, he claims, “don’t want the Amish to vote.” Despite the challenges, Presler is optimistic that increased Amish turnout could influence the results.
Trump’s approach to limited government, strong family values, and religious freedom appears to resonate with many Amish voters, potentially providing him an edge in this pivotal state.
